I am building for CentOS 5.5 at the moment.
Here's the list of packages that I had to install in order to kick off
the build (well, rather, here's the command I used to install them).
You may have to install the associated libraries (but not the -devel
packages) if your system does not already have them installed, but then
you should be able to use it. I will post a link in a little bit.
yum install cvs zip gcc-c++ {glib2,gtk2,fontconfig,libnotify}-devel \
{libIDL,alsa-lib,libXt,freetype,dbus-glib,curl,xorg-x11-proto}-devel \
{libX11,libXau,libXext,wireless-tools}-devel pkgconfig autoconf213 \
glibc-static
