to be exact, GMA-500 (the infamous poulsbo chipset) *only* works on 8.04 
and 9.04 Ubuntu.
I'm using 9.04 so I'm ok. But I can't upgrade at the moment.

And yes, its quite annoying but for me, it wasn't a show stopper.
