[ale] LUGNUTS Linux Events Plans -- SKYPE Call TONIGHT

Hey all!

We have some young Linux enthusiasts  looking for input
and involvement with event plans for end of May / beginning
of June.

The activities are  being organized through the Lanier Tech
LUGNUTS user group, and they are currently working on
the grand idea of putting together a Linux Demo Exhibit
at their school's annual Student Picnic in order to raise
public awareness of FLOSS options and create general
interest in using Linux for everyday computer needs.
The "penguins in the public" Demos presented on
__Wednesday, May 26th__ would also be promoting
a subsequent Linux Install Fest scheduled for
__Saturday, June 5th__,  where interested folks from
the picnic could get help installing and setting up their
own Linux systems.

I've been in frequent contact with Joshua Roberts, the
student who founded the Lanier Tech LUGNUTS group,
and I participated in their initial (well attended) planning
meeting for these events via Skype.  The lists of demo
apps for each of the 3 planned applications focused
Workstations are below.

For anyone interested in offering ideas, support or
participation in these events, there is another SKYPE
call in conference opportunity for the LUGNUTS
meeting taking place TONIGHT, TUESDAY, MAY 4th,
at 7:15 pm.

To participate, Send a SKYPE connection request to

he will add you to the call in group.

Over the past several months myself and a few other
active ALE members have travelled to the Cumming,
GA campus and provided presentations and support
for some of the LUGNUTS meetings.  They are a good
group and the IT students at the school are in desperate
need of more Linux exposure, so helping this LUG and
mentoring it's members are worthwhile efforts.
