[ale] KDE mis-behavior

I'm not a KDE driver but considering failsafe works it would be my
expectation your problem lies in video the driver. I had tons of issues
with my Nvidia cards under Ubuntu 9.10 and never really got it
worked-out to my satisfaction. Xorg.conf was a major part of the
solution in my case....and a black screen was one of the things I had to
fight through.

This makes sense. It is entirely possible that KDE's "safe mode" does
not enable the fancier video candy -- none of which I use anyway, so I
haven't noticed the loss.

It is probably possible to get yum to list all the packages that were
updated within the past 24 hours, but I'll be damned if I can figure out
how to do that. The man page is somewhat less than helpful.
