Overview:

  In this presentation, I will examine the role of free software in
supercomputing and small-scale HPC clusters. Topics covered will include
modern HPC oses, beowulf clusters, the role of Linux in large-scale
supercomputing applications, and software frameworks for parallel
computing (especially MPI and OpenMP). The presentation will conclude
with demonstrations of parallel applications using these frameworks.
