[ale] Missing Hardware and Non-Functional Software

Try adding 'all_generic_ide' to the end of the kernel line (type 'e'
on the grub startup screen, then edit the
kernel line)...
This looks like a bug that has been reported against CentOS and
Ubuntu, and probably others... google
'softreset failed' for the gory details...
