[ale] OT: Out in left field or in the sewers of The Big Apple

My point is that if it is not barricaded someone can fall in for any
number of reasons. I have never had a problem letting my 2 year old
walk 3 feet in front of me. There are 2 types of parents on this
planet: Those that put their children on leashes and those that make
fun of them. I fall into the latter group. I have trained my 2 year
old to the point that in the China section of Macy's I tell her "one
finger" and she touches anything and everything she wants and nothing
gets broke. Even with all of this, I do not feel good about telling
those collector of my taxes that it is acceptable protocol to be so
irresponsible as to leave a manhole in this [presumed (we know no
details)] condition. A child or even adult could easily be knocked
into a hole by someone else.  The way I see it, if I did my job as
sloppily as these workers, I wouldn't have any money with which to pay
my taxes. So, in turn I don't expect my taxer to create such hazards
with their sloppiness.

I know that was all over the place. I've got a lot going on today, and
am feeling sloppy about my ale-ing.
