I know one of the 3 guys who wrote the paper / did the work.
I trust it.
Also NIST officially says a one pass wipe is sufficient for 20 GB and
larger disks. They base that on a NSA study. I tried to get a copy
of the NSA study, but it seems to be unavailable to the general
public.
Now SSDs are a different story. I think an incinerator might be the
best choice.
