Hauppague internal video capture card. Get one with multiple inputs to
support analog, HD and digitial with coax, rca composite, and s-video
cable connections.

Then you get to master MythTV!  :-)

Really. The MythTV crowd has pretty much mastered TV on a Linux box.
The website(s) cover details around capture card specs and
configuration. Pretty much any bttv chip is well supported (with a
notable exception of the new Hauppague USB device with has no current
analog support, only digital).

xawtv, vlc, tvtime and others are apps for viewing.

If you want to get totally nuts you can capture with Cinellerra and do
live video editing with ....

uh. forget that last part. Got carried away.
