Fifty miles north of the city so my DSL provider is probably not an option
for most. As to modems, I started with a TDS suplied Actiontec and hated
the thing until I got my firewall reconfigured and the Actiontec in full
bridge mode. Despite loosing a port to lightning (twice!) it worked great
for three years and finally died recently.

Replaced it with a Zoom and like it with one exception. With the
Actiontec, bridge mode was just that and no changes could be made other
than a reset to factory settings. The Zoom still has accessibility and
config changes that needed to be made after putting it in bridge mode.

While some may need this versatility I found it confusing. Oh, did not
attempt to get the modem replaced through my ISP because they now charge
$3 per month rent for them. Bought the Zoom at Microcenter.
