[ale] attempt to access beyond end of device

Chris,

Somehow this has me wondering if the SD card has 1KB sectors.  If so,
that could potentially reek havoc in Linux.

I know the kernel team has been putting in test infrastructure to
handle sector sizes other than 512 bytes.

I don't know how to test for that, nor how you would inform the kernel
the sector size if it is a non-512 byte size.

Hope that is not your issue, but at least you can keep an eye out for it.
