[ale] oocalc: a sad story from a oocalc newbie

I understand what you're saying about the OO behavior, Greg. I am sort
of on the fence about the whole running OO from the command line. I know
it can be done, and that's good, but it's more a question of does it
need to be done. This is one of those situations where personal choice
has to take priority. I'm not even going to engage in the vi vs. emacs
thing! <BG>

As far as how much you're retreating to the vmware, I get the feeling
that you're using it for a crutch. No condemnation, just an observation.

I had severe reliability issues with XP on my personal computer in May
of '06, and then after having to reinstall the system and restore all of
my files, Mr. Gates' Wonder did exactly the same thing again in July of
that year. I was so p--sed that I decided to take the dive and installed
Ubuntu on my laptop. I haven't looked back since.

I now only use XP on my company issued laptop, and endure it because I
have no choice in it. I like the paychecks, so I put up with XP.

As far as my personal data and productivity tools, I have used nothing
but Linux applications since July of '06. I reloaded my personal files,
and only had about 6 files of two types that I couldn't directly import
into an appropriate Linux equivalent application.

Anyway, just an observation and a comparison point.
