The only time I have seen something similar was when I, in a stroke of
genius, left the partitions type as 83 and the kernel will panic but
booting from another partition the init scripts activated all md and
lvm stuff. That's why I asked.
Anyway, you might be right thinking the problem is /dev/sdg (assuming
partitions types are the same as sdf) and the module for your card.
Where is sdg in your dmesg? Maybe compare it to a dmesg from your
Fedora9 kernel?
