[ale] Updated Linux but new Pine doesn't know keystokes!

I just installed a fresh Slackware-12.0, and with it came Pine, my usual 
mail reader. I copied my ~/mail directory, addressbook, and ~/.pinerc, but 
for some reason I cannot use some of the command keys: ';', ':', probably 
some others. Letter commands seem to work.

Any ideas what might be happening here?
