I will be installing Elive (Debian with Enlightenment DR17) on a
PCG-9P6L Vaio later tonight. By this afternoon the replacement hard
drive should be in and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of the best
way to open it up and replace the drive. Most of the material I have
found so far doesn't cover this particular model and I really had not
wanted to do a lot of unnecessary disassembly (but I'm good like that too).
I will also be ordering a new case for this one as she accidentally
dropped it on one of the hinges so if anyone has suggestions for a good
source then that would be appreciated also.
Thanks folks.
--- Back Story ---
She has never used anything but Windows and when her drive started
giving trouble I suggested she use one of my LiveCDs. I then managed to
partition and install Elive on the laptop and she was very pleased. She
has made the comment that it seems to run faster with Linux than it ever
did with XP. I gave her the LiveCD that matched her install and told
her that I didn't know how long her drive would last. She became very
familiar with the menu and when her drive quit (while she was
traveling), she just booted from the CD and continued checking email,
surfing, and using OpenOffice (while saving to a flash drive).
I told her that we could install a dual boot later tonight and she said,
"nah, I just want Linux on it."
