Nothing to recommend with a G on the end? The atheros-based D-Link 
DWL-G630 have worked well for me. It's $23 from amazon. Like the 
broadcom card you're replacing, this card requires closed-source 
software to work. However, this software is redistributable, which means 
the card will work out-of-the-box in Ubuntu.

I've heard about laptops with BIOS checks that refuse to boot if a 
different wireless card is installed. Does anyone know if there's any 
truth to this?
