[ale] VNC how to punch thru DSL modem

Hi jt,
VNC _usually_ uses ports 5800 and 5900 (or a bit higher on both
depending on the screen number - windows uses the given ones by
default). But it is easily changed in the setup by just specifing the
listening port on Moms machine. You will need to know what port to talk
to when you try and connect.
Basically, if the modem is configurable as in having a firewall built in
then allow incoming traffic on those tcp ports. From your machine try a
traceroute to Moms machine IP address. Most modems don't have a firewall
so they are wide open.
Which leads to the other issue: static IP address? Without it you will
need to have Mom on a dynamic DNS service so you can access by name.
