[ale] external USB drives, brand recommendations?

I know someone else stated they wouldn't purchase Maxtor, but I've got 
one Maxtor OneTouch and two OneTouch II and they work flawlessly on my 
box.  I have one connected via usb, the other two are daisy chained 
firewire.
