...which would in turn require a PAL TV set and perhaps a 220VAC/50Hz 
mains supply to run it. 

TVs and related equipment that can do both PAL and "Never Twice the Same 
Color" at least *used* to exist; they were typically sold at US military 
base exchanges overseas.
