[ale] SMTP fails at Motels ok at Home

The best way to get around any such issues is to set up SMTP over SSL, or
failing that, use SSH tunneling to forward the appropriate port. Are you running
your own mail server that you can't connect to or is this your provider's mail
server you can't reach from a motel?
