[ale] Nfs mounts are EXTREMELY slow

Verify that there isn't a DNS problem causing either the client or the
server to wait for DNS to timeout before proceeding.

Btw, this also is a common cause for email connections to one's server
taking almost exactly 1 minute or 5 minutes to happen.
