I'm not suggesting you have nefarious motives at all.  I am suggesting,
however, that you unwittingly manipulated your informal survey in order
to support a predetermined conclusion.  You didn't ask the first set of
hand-raisers "why?" - you *gave* them a "why" and then measured how many
people disagreed with your statement strongly enough to lower their
hand.  It's a trick pollsters everywhere pull on purpose. 

If you're going to make changes because you want to and you have the
power to, then go ahead; you don't need a chorus of puppets to back you
up.  The market will absorb the changes, one way or another.
