[ale] Best MTA?

I really liked qmail for a business environment, but wouldn't
recommend it for personal use. I first ran it on an incredibly old Sun
box as a mail gateway, and it performed like a champ. It had the best
antispam/blackhole support of any of the MTAs I tried when in the role
of a gateway. I also like its Maildir delivery feature when you use
it as your main MTA..

Qmail *is* a pain to set up, and if you want to do something
nonstandard it can be hard to find the add-on you want. (And you
don't want to write your own add-ons if you can avoid it.) But it is
fast and amazingly robust; once you have it set up you can pretty much
forget about it.

For personal use I'd probably go with Postfix if I didn't like the MTA
that came with my distro.
