Dropline isn't really that active anymore. You may want to check out Freerock
Gnome at:
http://gsb.freerock.org/
It's very easy to install and I have never had any problems other than a
mangling of my KDE menu after using Gnome. The developer quickly came back
with a fix and it has been in his FAQ ever since.
There is also a Slackware version of Enlightenment .017 at:
http://slacke17.sourceforge.net/
I'm mostly on KDE, but I occasionally use either Gnome or Enlightenment. E17
is dveloping some nice features now.
