I do have notes on WinXP re-installation onto fat32 that suggest the Win 
installer can do this, but I wasn't aware of the size restriction. That's 
not a problem here, since I plan a 20/20 split.

My reason for going fat32 is the [mis?]understanding that Linux would not 
successfully mount the NTFS files as read/write. I definitely need to pass 
work between the two settings. If I can mount the WinXP NTFS space as 
read/write, I can repartition and/or reinstall as NTFS.
