Sounds like me, I just turned 53. I found out 3 years ago that the
warranty already expired at 50.
I can remember taking a COBOL class having to keypunch Hollerith cards
(pardon the spelling, memory was the 1st to go), running the punched
program and waiting for the printout for the results. Then going through
the listing to debug, correct, repunch, reread and wait again. It would
take several hours to go through this process a couple of times. Ate a
lot of good pizza in the lab though. The school I went to had an IBM 360
upgraded to a 370. At that time Florida International University had
just opened (strictly upperdivision and Grad School then.) and they had
an Univac 1100. One project we attempted to do was to connect the 2
systems through dial-up. We gave the Univac a new name during this
process "Yo-Yo Computer". I think the name explains the behaviour of the
FIU system with no further explanation.
