[ale] Wimpmodem to Limpmodem?

My PC has an Agere modem on it. It's been a year since I tried to make it
work. But as I recall, linmodem didn't help. I Googled around frantically on
it for a couple of days and never saw anything that offered hope. If you
find a way to make it work, let me know. But I wouldn't be too optimistic.
