[ale] delay from postings via gmail

Overnight the list lagged by about 3 hours... seems to be improving now.
The MTA probably isn't setup to handle such volume, or it could be
throttling as demand increases.  100s of possible reasons probably, hope
it's NOT running as root.  ;-)
