[ale] Image programs for Linux?

Yeah Imagemagick comes with Redhat by default.  Look at:
man mogrify
for a very useful tool that is part of Imagemagick.

man -k image

might yield some possibilities for you.

display which comes with imagemagick.  imagemagick has a number of other 
tools as well.
