[ale] Linux for "normal" people?

Hi Geoffrey,
The content of the list is over my head. I live off of 400 (exit 6), and I certainly could attend some meetings. Where do I go? 

My box has the SuSE 9.1 in it, right now, I just need some trimmings to use WiFi. Thanks for the line,
