Others will explain this much better, but there are many terminal types
out there from legacy keyboard/terminal emulations. VT100, ANSI, VT220
are examples you will find out about. There is most likely an rpm or
base system package that has the terminal emulation info in it for many
types of terminals. The name of the emulation will match up in the
package with a particular terminal. Your Timberline package need some
type of terminal emulation. I can't believe it would be too weird so
try IBM emulations for the old IBM mainframes or VTxxx types (there are
several). The SGIs use under IRIX the ANSI emulation and don't
understand xterm as an emulation. So, a little investigation in the
Timberline docs might yield a Textronics terminal or some particular
terminal type the software is looking for. You probably have it in your
terminal type software on your Linux box. (What is the terminal
software package called under Linux? terminfo?) Any, use man terminfo
or man -k terminal to get a start.
