Could this perhaps be a problem with your printer?  I have a 1 megapixel
Polaroid I picked up on the cheap when K-Mart had their first round of
bankruptcy closings.  At the time I had an Epson Stylus Color 600 and
printing on photo paper gave marginal results.  I recently acquired a
Canon I-850 and now 3"x5" prints on photo quality paper are almost
indistinguishable from drug store prints.
