[ale] Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

I use two Logitech cordless keyboard/mouse combinations within six feet
of each oterh all day. Love them. One has been running in daily use
over a year.
Logitech supplies special software to run them, but you do not need it
unless you want the fancy keys to do their fancy things. As a standard
keyboard and mouse, they work just fine. For Linux you do not need any
special drivers or other software. I am typing this on an SuSE 8.1
machine, and have a RedHat 6.1 machine and several Windows machines on
the same keyboard (via a Belkin switchbox, which is the only source of
trouble in the system). Works like a charm on all of the boxes.
I am running an 802.11a network in the same room, and I have noticed a
slightly decreased range of the keyboard and mouse. I have no idea why,
as the network runs at 5.2 GHz and the mouse and keyboard at 27 MHz.
I have also given several Logitech wireless mice and mouse/keyboard
combinations to my kids, who abuse the heck out of them but they keep in
ticking just fine.
I recently retired a very old (maybe the first) Logitech wireless
keyboard. It still works, but I replaced it with the keyboard/mouse
combo. It received hard use for years without so much as a hickup. Some
day I will plug it back into something and I am sure it will work like a
champ.
