In addition to some of the others already mentioned, you might look at:

knoppix <http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html> is a live-filesystem
Debian-based ISO. Its a bit bigger than your target, but can be scaled way
down by removing KDE, etc.

demolinux <http://www.demolinux.org/> is another Debian-based system. Leave
out Star Office, etc., to shrink its size

virtual-linux <http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtual-linux> is a similar
Mandrake-based product. I've not used it, but I think it's a bit bigger than
you want, but again, leave out the packages you don't need....

dyne:bolic <http://www.dynebolic.org> has the world's worst name, but is
pretty much already what you want. It's got X, Mozilla, some streaming audio
clients, etc., and is fairly small (~120 meg gzipped ISO)

Simply GnuStep <http://simplygnustep.sourceforge.net/> is a little bigger
than dyne:bolic, but is another small live distro. It includes lots of
GnuStep-based apps (hence the name).

Of those, dyne:bolic or Simply GnuStep would be the easiest to tweak into
exactly what you want, I would think.

later,
chris
