Turns out (when I try yet another rescue mode, and can scroll up the
screen) that the kernel panic begins with the following. If it's any help.
(keep in mind, this is during fsck, on an ext2 fs)

Pass 2: checking directory structure
Oops: 0000
CPU: 0
EIP: 0010 [<c0114c8f>] not tainted
EFLAGS: 00010006

EIP is at (2.4.18-3BOOT)
eax: cad98ccc ebx: cad99ccc ecx: 00000001 edx: 6f2064be
esi: 00000001 edi: cad98cc8 ebp: c0265ebc esp: c0265ea8
ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018
Process Swapper (pid 0, stackpage = c0265000)

Thanks, again. Am I just posting useless giberish, or can people actually
get any information out of this thing? Should I run fsck in some sort of
trace mode? How would I do that?

Thanks
jenn
