A Windows system is much better for warmth:

  1. For someone foolish to try to get work done on it, it requires
     twice the HP so more BTUs put out.

  2. Its poor disk caching will cause more disk I/O, resulting in
     more power consumed.

  3. Its frequent crashes will cause many more reboots and thus more
     disk I/O, resulting in more power used.

  4. Its frequent crashes will get you angry, raising your BP, thus
     causing your body to put out more heat and your anger to block
     your feeling of physical cold as you fantasize about killing Bill.

Most modern PCs burn only 100-200W in normal mode.  Add 100-200W for
the monitor when not in standby.
