[ale] Distro question---chkconfig

SUSE has chkconfig and insserv, plus a graphical runlevel editor for
real convenience in Yast2 via the ControlCenter. Gentoo has rc-update
which may or may not replace that functionality. You can always just
link or unlink the init scripts in the different runlevels by hand too.
How does Slackware do things for init scripts? My experience so far is
from Bob Toxen's firewalls which are really stripped down and lean. If
I was looking for a WinXP type GUI control over a Linux install, SUSE
would be my choice now. If I wanted to know exactly what was going on
and shape it myself then Slackware or Debian would be nice to try out.
