I just bought the MMP8500 by Memorex (sports model) for $100 from Target that has 128MB of storage, FM Radio, stop watch, USB connection, and file storage. When I connected the device, the USB support recognized it as a SCSI device (/dev/sda) and allow me to mount the device and see the files. I have not tried to copy music to it from Linux, but it should work. Windows sees it as a hard drive and allows you to copy/delete files without problem. The unit is expandable. The manual states you can add up to a 512MB SD/MMC memory card. The unit is small enough to fit comfortably in your hand. They provide a carrying case. Supports MP3/WMA file formats

Subject: [ale] Semi OT: best supported MP3 players

I am looking for a reasonably priced mp3 player with at least 128MB of
storage that is well supported in linux. I have a creative muvo, but as
far as I can tell, the only way to reformat it is to boot into windows
and use the Creative Utility. Can someone recommend a good one?

Thanks,
Jason
