Not all banks use CheckFree for this. Metavante is the number three bill 
payment provider, with Citibank at number two. I have seen the way both 
Metavante and CheckFree work at the back end. If you don't like CheckFree, 
you would really hate Metavante. It's a spit and chewing gum operation. Some 
other banks use a company called Princeton. For awhile, VISA had its own bill 
pay operation and it was the best of the lot. But it didn't survive. It got 
turned over to IBM's ill fated Integrion initiative and the bill payment part 
of that got absorbed into CheckFree.
