Gee. From the sounds of it, Computer Science people get treated just like,
or very similarly to, many of the other technical people (many engineers,
chemists, physicists(sp?), and such). After spending four plus years
getting oriented, and mucho dinero also - all the real decisions will be
made on the basis of what somebody else read in a paper six months to two
years ago. If you are the sole representative of your profession in the
org - odds are good that management will spend 60 seconds getting the
wrong tools for your job (you are to blame when they don't work right),
but will spend 12 hours working on the color scheme for their corporate
cars.
sorry - just got back from being cornered by an old man who wanted to tell
me _all_ of the things us youngsters have done wrong with his country. I'm
feeling a bit better now...
