cdrecord -v speed=$DRIVESPEED dev=N,N,N  isofile.iso

To determine the proper dev values above try cdrecord --scanbus

Also, if you have a generic cd and you don't know the max writing speed, 
try: cdrecord -atip

Note, you've got to take into consideration both the writing speed of 
the drive and the speed capability of the cd media, typically speed= 
will represent the smaller of both.

mkisofs -T -l -r -o isofile.iso <directory(s) you want to archive>
