[ale] Microsoft's 1984

Major attractiveness to large Windows installations due to control
issues. Major pain for most common home users because such control
spills over into increase cost for stuff that used to be free, or
unforseen conflicts like home movies that won't run. Hackers
(knowledgeable computer users) will hate it. I really wonder if it will
actually be practical enough to not impact most people in an unfavorable
manner. There are so many pitfalls and possible extra expenses that
will fall on the user. Wouldn't you have to buy or download new
versions of all your programs that were signed?
