I had a better situation then that, for a while.  AT&T had an internal 
contracting group.  Once in the org, you work for other organizations on 
contract.  Once that's up, you've got to find another gig, or get your 
current organization to extend.  I worked in that organization for 7 
years.  It was great.  I popped through three contracts in that time. 
Things change and not to your liking?  Move on.  The organsation did the 
research for new contracts as well.  They got rid of the idea about 3 
years ago.  It was great while it lasted.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
