Direct Access Storage Device
On a side note, one other issue some people overlook dealing with
IDE/SCSI comparisons is the simultanious data acces of scsi vs the
focused access of ide. With 2 scsi drives you can read from and write
too both drives in parallel maximizing your throughput(which peaks out
at about 4-5 devices if they are all all rated at the maximum rating of
the controller) as opposed to 2 IDE drives on the same chain where the
system can only read from or write to one device at a time(I have even
read documentaition to where its all IDE drives in a controller pair,
ie. a mother board has two ports for 4 drives in one controller pair,
but this may be just one manufacturer) if you can afford SCSI devices
and the controllers, it will be well worth the extra expense.
