Although, chances are it'll be treated like a line problem, since it's
something outside the house, and it could be as soon as the next evening...
you never know until you try.
You can also rig the same thing temporarily by taking apart the little
plug-in filters that come with some of the self-install kits.

You're absolutely right and I started to post the same thing, then I
figured, he didn't want to wait the 2 weeks it'll take the new monopoly
on the block to get there and replace it.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
