[ale] FAQ alert: Losing ^M

The best solution I know is to install recode.  Then put these two
aliases in your .bashrc:

alias dos2unix='recode ibmpc..lat1'
alias unix2dos='recode lat1..ibmpc'

recode can do a heck of a lot more recodings than these two.
