Eclipse <URL: http://www.eclipse.org> is an -awesome-
Java IDE out-of-the-box. It's open source and of
very high quality. It's supposed to be a toolkit
for building IDEs, and there are, in theory, folks
working on support for other languages. I know some
folks working on Python support in Eclipse.

The only thing Eclipse doesn't give you as far as
Java development goes is a UI builder. Personally I
hate those; they generally produce ugly unmaintainable
code, and 10-to-1 a human will eventually have to
maintain the generated code.
