turn off the onboard sound on the Amptron and add a Soundblaster Live for
$30. Â Sound is MUCH better! Â Modem is hopeless in my opinion, but I have
DSL so haven't worked on it very much.

Here is what I've done and people may scream. But I have Linux running
on 3 Ginstar G1 PC's. I think each one coast me around 350 - 400 each.
Downside:
Sound is not very good
I have not got the modem to work
Upside:
Good video
Works great

ha! that is sweet... Amptron has become a very stable competitor for
consumers that are not going to overclock their cpu's!

I bought an AMPTRON 810. Yes, and Amptron. I put a AMD 1600+ chip in it - and
the board ROCKS! The cost $65 for the board, and $100 for the chip.
The board has built in everything.

Aside from the Microtel/Walmart pcs, are there any cheap linux-friendlies
out there?
I'm not looking for an overwhelming amount of power...just something that
will run my Apache/PHP SquirrelMail server better than my current 200mhz
sloth.
Thanks!
