[ale] moving to the command line

Bruce,
It is always good on ALE to respond to the list in replys so the thread
stays complete.  Unless you decide that responding off the list is a
better way to go.  Depends on the situation.  I learn alot from ALE so I
appreciate the consistent threads.  I probably spend at least 3 hours
per week just reading ALE and browsing the threads.  My only sorrow is
that the ALE archive is not as friendly searchable as I'd like.  I wish
you could enter in search terms in a webpage and get a page back with
all pertinent complete threads found.  If I am missing out on a way to
do this please anyone let me know!
