Note:
If you install gcc-3.0x from the RedHat 7.2 rpms, it will install it as
gcc3. You have to install gcc-2.96 to be able to compile kernels. It's
not as if gcc3 is broken for kernel compiles. It's more that kernel code
uses too many older macros and deprecated code for gcc3 to finish. It
will be a loooong time before the kernel is gcc3 compatible.
